Zara’s Beginnings
Once, the Gods gave a prophecy to the realm of Aspes;
A child born to humans.
A child blessed by the Gods.
A child to bring the existence of dragons.
A child to rule over the mortal plane.
At first, people of all kinds were excited for the gifted child. All the people of Aspes rejoiced when she was born and brought dragons all over the realm. All except the human king, Joel Havencreek, convinced many people that the dragons were dangerous and were going to hurt the people of Aspes. He believed that the child would take over the land and bring destruction. He sought to kill the child, he spent all his resources on finding and killing the Mother Dragon. Once he was on his deathbed, his son swore to continue his work, as did his son, and his son after him, and this continued until King Argo Van Havencreek found her.
“Let her go! She hasn’t hurt anyone!!” A woman cried out.
“Its existence hurts more than you realize. You’re just too blind to see it! I am the light that was sent to purge the world of its dragons and all of its ratched existence!” Argo commanded from atop his horse. Next to him, three soldiers stood, two holding back a little girl no more than 10 from running away.
The girl had short orange hair with a golden crown and red horns on top. The girl also had light orange dragon wings and tail, and several cuts and bruises, some dripping purple blood. The girl screamed and kicked, trying to get free, tears streaming from her face, her efforts in vain. Next to her, a man lay motionless, her father.
“Let her go!!!” the woman cried again, this time with more anger. “Or I’ll kill you!” The woman, the girl’s mother, Lila, had short orange hair like her daughter, except for a long braid hanging off her right shoulder with a fire symbol on top of the braid. She had two golden arm bands, one for each arm, and a golden band around her neck to match. Each of them had red stones all around the bands.
“HA! You’ll kill me? That’s certainly amusing!” Argo laughed at her, then turned to the third soldier. “Kill her.”
“NO!” The girl screamed as the soldier raised a sword and ran it through Lila without a single thought. The girl screamed with all her heart as Lila fell to the ground. A burst of flame erupted from the girl, killing all three soldiers in the process.
“FUCK!” Argo shouted. “You little brat!” Argo held his left arm, which got lightly singed from the blast. He moved his horse to position himself for an attack and grabbed his sword with his undamaged hand. The young Dragon Queen lunged at him as he swung, the sword barely grazing her hand, blood dripping from it. As she drew closer, Argo pulled the reins of his horse. The horse, startled by the sudden action, bucked and kicked, knocking the dragon in the face and to the ground as well as Argo.
The horse ran away from the scene as Argo rubbed his side. “Damn horse!” He stood up and prepared himself again. He raised his sword, hovering over the girl. She looked up, purple blood dripping from her nose and a mix of fear and anger written on her face. Argo swung, and she turned her head, embracing for pain, but it never came. She looked back at Argo, confused and hopeful, then she noticed he was just as confused as she was. Then suddenly, fear, smoldering fear, unlike anything Argo has ever felt, appeared on his face and corrupted his body, but he couldn’t move.
“I had a feeling that this little cult that Joel of the Humans started would be trouble.” A voice deep and static spoke like it was from an old-timey radio. A man stood with a look of controlled anger.
The man had long snow white hair that was in a small ponytail hanging on his right shoulder. His right eye was a bright orange, his left wasn’t any color at all, it was a clock. Swirling around him, several clocks spun uncontrollably.
Argo and the girl realized this man wasn’t a man at all, he was the oldest and strongest God of all, the God that created time itself, Nexdis.
“Did you think we wouldn’t notice this sick game you were playing? Did you think that we would let you kill thousands to millions of dragons? Then kill the Blessed Child’s life-bringers!?” Each word the God spoke grew louder and less concealed that he wasn’t exactly happy. The more he spoke, the more Argo was struck with mind-shattering fear. He fell to the ground, unable to stand anymore. “Then kill the Child that me and all of my immortal children love and adore!? Did you really think that would go well for you?
Nexdis took a long and strained breath, swiping off nonexistent dirt from his brown and orange time-themed, steampunk waistcoat.
